In May, 1962, candidate John Suelflow of the Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri, received the Call from the Missions Committee of the Southern District of the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod, to organize and establish a Lutheran congregation in Bossier City.  Pastor Suelflow arrived on August 28,1962 to begin this ministry. Pastor Suelflow served until June 1967.

In May, 1968 Pastor Sig Kunz accepted the Call to Immanuel.  From that day until his retirement in May, 2016, Pastor Kunz lead Immanuel to significant growth spiritually and physically, from a small congregation worshiping in a funeral parlor chapel to our current campus. During Pastor Kunz's ministry, Immanuel grew dramatically as churches in area closed and membership dwindled.

After Pastor Kunz's retirement, Reverend Marcus Ring and Reverend Michael Shannon led our congregation until Reverend Dr. Mark Koch served as an Intentional Interim Pastor through the spring of 2018. Rev. George Borghardt III received Immanuel's Call and served until April, 2021.

Reverend Christopher Yeager received the Call from Immanuel and began his ministry in the Shreveport-Bossier City area in April, 2021.  In May, 2022 Reverend Robert M. Portier accepted the Call to serve as Senior Pastor.
