Good Sarmatian fund

This is a fund that Immanuel has had in place for many years. Your pastors in consultation with the Elders and with respect for confidentiality assist with urgent needs made known to them through members of the congregation and to assist those in our congregation. All such needs are evaluated on a case-by-case basis. If you ever feel like adding to this fund simply the gift to the Good Samaritan Fund.


Food Bank Support

We are called to feed the hungry and we are blessed to have a number of food banks in the area we serve. We have replaced our pastor’s pantry with the sheriff’s office operation blessing food bank program. We can send those in need around the corner to the sheriff’s substation on Viking drive for emergency assistance. They are able to get ten times the food those in need that we can. The food bank is run but the Sheriff’s Posse and auxiliary volunteers. The location in our area is @ 1518 Cox Street and is open from 9 to noon on Wednesdays. They make monthly deliveries to needy shut- ins. This is a nonprofit organization that receives no tax dollars only donations and volunteer work.

 

Rescue Mission Support

We are called to shelter the homeless and we are blessed to have a number of shelters in our area. The two we have chosen to support are; Holy Cross Hope House assists the disadvantaged in downtown Shreveport by furnishing essential services unavailable to those without a place to live. By providing mailboxes, phones, clothing, showers, washers, and dryers, those without can live and work with the basics all of us need to survive. More services, including daily meals, bus passes, and education on how to be self-dependent, add to Hope House’s mission to help all we can to achieve freedom from living on the streets. And SHREVEPORT-BOSSIER RESCUE MISSION which exists to pursue
the passion of Jesus Christ to lift up the hungry, homeless, abused and addicted.

Providence House

We have supported Providence House for many years. The mission of Providence House is, “Breaking the homeless cycle one family at a time.” Underlying the mission of Providence House is God’s gracious intention, sovereign purpose, and steadfast love for each and every person. In providing shelter, care, support, and encouragement for familiesin need, we would be a visible sign and instrument of God’s own provision for his children. The Lord who created you says, “Fear not, I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are mine.” Isaiah 43:1


Renesting

We have supported this ministry for many years. The Renesting Project serves homeless clients and those in danger of becoming homeless. The accomplish this mission by providing gently used furniture and household items to those in need. They serve as this area’s community furniture bank, providing furniture and household goods FREE OF CHARGE.


Pregnancy Recourse Centers

Our Lutherans for life chapter seeks to highlight the sanctity of human life the Care Pregnancy Center, Heart of hope. June has become for us here the moth the celebrate life and celebrate families. Between mother’s day and father’s day we like to keep the focus pregnancy resource centers to help young mothers inneed. We do this through two centers. The Care Pregnancy Center exist to provide CARING Our client advocates and nurses will carefully listen to you and your concerns. Clients describe our team as friendly, informative and non- judgmental. CONFIDENTIAL. We understand the importance of privacy and work hard to protect your personal information. FREE. We offer free pregnancy testing, limited ultrasound, options information, and emotional & material support. And they are fully support through charitable donations. Heart of Hope exist to meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of young ladies facing an unplanned pregnancy by walking beside them as they decide whether to parent or to place for adoption. To help them set career goals by instituting a plan of action. To commit to aftercare for those who
are not ready or able to return to their former life.


Kairos Prison Ministry

Kairos Prison Ministry International, is a lay-led, interdenominational Christian ministry in which men and women volunteers bring Christ's love and forgiveness to prisoners and their families.. The Kairos programs take the participants on a journey that demonstrates the love and
forgiveness of Jesus Christ. Kairos Prison Ministry is Christian in nature, although no religious affiliation is necessary to be a participant. The programs involve a structured model that includes the weekend experience, followed by guests or participants gathering regularly for accountability, support.  

Gingerbread Home for Children


The Gingerbread House Children's Advocacy Center is a community-based, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that began serving abused children in 1998. The Center works in close collaboration with local law enforcement, child protective services, the district attorney's offices, and medical and mental health professionals to provide the best possible services for abused children and their families. Gingerbread House Children's Advocacy center coordinates interviews and investigations with the referring agencies and other professionals from the initial screening to the final disposition of the case. The Center assists in gathering evidence and documenting the victim's verbal testimony, which is necessary for
criminal prosecution and related proceedings. Through the Center's advocacy program, child victims and their families are prepared for the criminal justice process in such a way that prevents further victimization. The Gingerbread House provides mental health interventions for child victims and their non-offending family members, so that the healing process can begin.


Oakwood Home for Women 

Oakwood Home for Women is a residence for women who are recovering from the illness of alcoholism and substance abuse. These are women who have demonstrated a sincere desire to restore their lives to productive and responsible endeavors. Oakwood is a temporary home which provides an atmosphere of understanding and help from other residents, interested volunteers, and persons who have succeeded in restoring their lives to order. The residents are learning to practice the twelve steps of Alcoholics Anonymous. The Oakwood Home for women has been in existence since 1974. Counted among its hundreds of alumnae are women who are performing useful services to our community through their current employment and through volunteering their services in this and other community programs. The home receives no money from state, federal or local governments. It is supported strictly from private donations from businesses, banks, churches and individuals. There is a nominal fee for room and board to those who are able to pay. However, no person needing help is turned away due to inability to pay. Oakwood will depend upon continued community-wide aid for its success.


Lutheran Brail Workers

Lutheran Braille Workers exists to bring the Word of God to the 253 million people throughout the world who are Blind or Visually Impaired, completely free of charge, in Braille, Specialized Large Print, and Audio-Digital formats. Men, women, and children find hope in the Light of Christ through the Bible and other Christian materials provided by LBW in over 15 languages in every part of the globe. While they live in physical and
spiritual darkness, LBW is one of the last remaining free resources available to them in which the Good News of Jesus is shared quickly and in high quality formats. In its 78 year history, Lutheran Braille Workers has produced and distributed over 14 million volumes of Christian material, in almost 40 languages, to 164 countries. LBW has never charged a recipient to receive these materials as we believe financial ability should never prevent the Word of God from being shared with this underserved population.
